Peter Calderone
Offensive line · 2011 · Temple
On Oct. 15, 2010, at Scranton Memorial Stadium, North Pocono won 17-14. Peter Calderone’s 38-yard field goal with 55.9 seconds left in the third quarter was the winner. North Pocono was 4-3 and 2-2. Scranton was 2-5 and 1-3. Nick Bell’s 13-yard run opened the scoring 92 seconds in. Nick DeSavino’s 82-yard score made it 14-6 fourteen seconds into the third quarter. Scranton tied it before the field goal. Tony Epifano intercepted Matt Defaria with 54.5 seconds left.
The Jan. 29, 2011, Times-Tribune story says Calderone was a two-way lineman for Jason Sepkowski. He started as a junior and a senior, was a Lackawanna Football Conference Division I first-team all-star in the junior year when the Trojans shared the division title and reached the District 2 Class AAA playoffs, and was a Times-Tribune All-Region offensive tackle as a senior. He turned down Lafayette.
He chose to walk on at Temple. Temple’s roster says he joined in the fall of 2011 and redshirted that season. He was not with the team in 2012 and did not play in 2013. In 2014, as a redshirt junior, he lettered, made his debut in a 37-7 win at Vanderbilt, and played in all 12 games, mostly on the field-goal unit. The roster lists him at 6-3, from Moscow, and a North Pocono graduate of the Sepkowski years.
