Henry Wolff carries the family name

The senior linebacker and kicker moved to tailback when Joe Briskie went down and leads the Trojans with 536 rushing yards. North Pocono is at Wallenpaupack tonight at 7.

Henry Wolff is the third generation of his family to wear the North Pocono uniform, Joby Fawcett writes in the Times-Tribune’s Week 9 Gameface feature. His father, Jeff, was a Big 11 all-star and All-Region linebacker. His uncle, Randy, played on the 1991 team that went 12-0 and beat Berwick 22-21 for the Eastern Conference Class I title, and he now coaches on Greg Dolhon’s staff. Cousin Evan, an all-state linebacker on last year’s 13-win team, is a walk-on at Penn State.

Wolff was supposed to play receiver next to Cole West this fall. When tailback Joe Briskie tore an ACL early in the season, Dolhon moved him into the backfield. He ran for 47 yards and two scores in his first start, a 42-0 win over Honesdale, and went over 100 for the first time against Valley View. In the 37-36 triple-overtime loss to Scranton Prep he had 119 rushing yards, 28 receiving, two touchdowns, and eight tackles. He leads the team with 536 rushing yards.

He still plays linebacker, with five sacks and a season-high nine tackles in the opener against Berwick, and he handles kickoffs and punts.

North Pocono, 7-1 and 4-1 in LFC Division I, is at Wallenpaupack, 5-3, tonight at 7. Both are already in the District 2 Class 4A field and playing for seeding. North Pocono won last year’s meeting 38-13 and leads the series 18-13.
