North Pocono Football 2013 Season

Record
2-8
League
1-6, 7th

Head coach Greg Dolhon. PIAA District 2. Lackawanna 1. Did not qualify.

Greg Dolhon’s second season was 2-8 and 1-6, seventh in Lackawanna 1. The 2014 Times-Tribune preview printed him at 2-18 entering his third year and listed the same 2013 results that are on this page.

Dunmore won the opener, 48-13, and Crestwood won the next week, 40-21. The Crestwood score is the one on the Sept. 6 standings. On Sept. 13 the week-three scoreboard had North Pocono 34, Riverside 7, the first win of Dolhon’s tenure.

West Scranton then shut North Pocono out, 24-0, at Memorial Stadium. The sixth-ranked Invaders allowed three first downs in the first half and ended all three second-half possessions with turnovers. Cullen Fanning had 94 yards of total offense and a touchdown. Cory Jackson-Bey had an interception and two fumble recoveries, one of them a score. Dolhon said the defense held up against a physical team and the offense was not precise.

The other win was the finale, 7-2 at Valley View. The game was scoreless until early in the fourth, when Pat Monahan broke a 90-yard run with 8:04 left. He finished with 155 yards on 21 carries. Valley View reached the North Pocono 15 three times and did not score, including a fourth-and-5 from the 8 and a fourth-and-2 from the 9. Tom Miner dropped quarterback Mitch McHale for a four-yard loss on fourth down with 1:46 left. Punter Matt Nawrocki ran out the last 12.1 seconds. The win made North Pocono 2-8 and 1-6 and ended a 20-game divisional losing streak. Dolhon said streaks come and go, and the players won because of their character.
