North Pocono Football 2015 Season

The Times-Tribune’s September 2016 notebook said North Pocono won five games in 2015 and started to show the defense Dolhon wanted. In four of those wins, the paper wrote, opponents were held to one score, including a shutout of Valley View in Week 10. MaxPreps has the year at 5-5 and 2-5, eighth in Lackawanna 1, and the closer is that 24-0 win at Valley View.

Dolhon entered the season 6-24, in his fourth year, on the 2015 preview. The year opened 3-0: 34-6 at Western Wayne, 46-7 at Honesdale, and 26-21 over Wyoming Area. No game is marked a playoff.

On Oct. 23 at Wallenpaupack Stadium, the Buckhorns won 23-15 and snapped a three-game losing streak. The Times-Tribune had Rashawn Battle at 178 rushing yards and three touchdowns, and Wallenpaupack at 277 rushing yards to North Pocono’s 187 total. Halftime was 23-0. Donny Blaine’s 15-yard touchdown pass to Tim Blaine and a late score by Matt Kelly, 31 yards after a lateral from Tom Miner, made it 23-15. An onside kick failed.

On Nov. 6 at John Henzes/Veterans Memorial Stadium in Peckville, No. 10 North Pocono beat No. 5 Valley View 24-0. The Times-Tribune had the Trojans at 5-5 and 2-5, with 321 total yards and 261 rushing. Senior Matt Kelly rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries, a 17-yard score with 3:30 left in the third and a 4-yard score with 6:14 left in the fourth. JP Walsh’s 32-yard field goal made it 3-0, and Donny Blaine scored on a 1-yard sneak after Nick Yaskulski’s 37-yard catch. Valley View, 6-4 and 3-4, had 161 total yards and 25 in the second half. Greg Dolhon said the team made the game its playoff game. Dallas’s win over Lake-Lehman knocked Valley View out of the District 2 Class AAA playoffs.
